when i bought this game, i was expecting a great game. Well, when i bought it, i was surprised to find that it was a spectacular game! I t takes advantage of the xbox's capabilities.
The graphics are so realistic! if anybody tells you the graphics arent amazing, than they must have been expecting them to look like they had been taken with a video camera! There is endless fun in the game.
When you are playing a game, there are 3 things that make the game good or bad.
1: graphics- does the character look like blurry blob of colors? certainly not in this game. they are so realistic. for example, if you fall really badly then you will see blood next to your skater laying on the ground. from 1-10 THPS2x gets a 9.0
2: gameplay- is it hard to learn the controls? does looking at your controller and thinking about the buttons to be pressed suck the fun out of the game? activision continues to do a great job with the controls. it must have been hard to come up with controls for a skateboarding game. Other games, like a hockey game, making the controls is easy- 1 button is pass, one button is shoot, one button is check etc,but in THPS2x they manage to make the controls just as easy. i give the gameplay and 8.5
3:value- will this game be fun for a couple of days and then get boring? will you waste your money on a game that keeps you entertained for a couple of hours? not if you buy this game. i have had this game since april (i think) and whenever i get the chance i pick it up and play it. there are 3 parts to the game: improved levels from THPS2 , the new levels just for this game, and improved levels from THPS. all of the parts are extremely fun and entertaining. THis is how the game works. you start out playing the first level from thps2. when you acheive a certain amount of goals, you go to the next one. once you beat the first group of levels, you go onto the next group. you can do this with one of the 10(?) pro skaters that are available or you can create your own skater. if you beat the game a certain amount of times (i wont give it away) you can unlock many cool cheats like moon physics and unlimited balance and unlock skaters like spiderman and a donut eating police man. and if you get bored with the 24(?) levels (which is highly unlikely) you can build your own skatepark.want to show your friends the cool new game you got? you can play with up to 4 people in 5 awesome multiplayer games. get the point? from 1-10 in value this game gets an 11.
i hope you liked my review and i hope it was helpful!! :)
For those of us who loved the first 2..., September 23, 2002

I loved the first 2 Tony Hawk's, and have been wishing (deep down) since buying an Xbox that I could play those first two classic games with improved graphics and a better controller (on the Xbox).
Well, my (and many others) wish came true! This game has it all! Every single level from the first two classic games is here with incredibly improved graphics. Not to mention 5 brand new levels exclusively for the Xbox. This game packs everything from the last 2 games into 2x. Multiplayer, with improved 4 player split screen, career (where u go with a career from the first two games). And the best part: classic skating parks from the last 2 games with state of the art graphics (New York City, Venice Beach, etc...). Plus the five new levels (one includes being in an airport tower).
So if you've been wanting to play the first 2 Tony Hawk games on the Xbox, and just love to skate video game style, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2x is worth it (not to mention the price; should cost u less then a twenty)

This is a solid game and I recomend this and if you like this game expect to like the next ones. I personally love the game but wished I would have saved my money so I could by 3 and 4 right away. I think it is a good game either way.

The Game That Started It All, July 17, 2002

The packaging can be a little deceptive, but this game contains all the levels of Tony Hawk 1 and Tony Hawk 2, plus 5 levels exclusively for the Xbox. The levels from THPS 1 & 2 have been redone, with better graphics added such as grass (which you have to see cause it's amazing). Even if you beat those games years ago this is still a fantastic addition to any video game collection because these are games that never get old to play. Even with the release of Tony Hawk 3, these games have a steadfast value because they have AMAZING gameplay.
This is a must have title, and a great value because it is essentially two great games in one.
This Game Is the best, July 10, 2002

This is the best game ever. The levels are huge and the graphics are amazing. The main problem is thought that the XBOX controller is so big it can be hard to reach the buttons. I say everybody that has and XBOX should have this game.

Tony Hawk 2X is exactly what you expect -- an amazing translation of Tony Hawk1 and 2 with extra touches such as more detailed characters, and crisper textures and details on the environments. Unfortunately, because it's exactly what you expect, this isn't a game that can be recommended to everyone. If you haven't played Tony Hawk 1 or 2 on the other systems, AND you've just picked up an Xbox, then this is definitely worth your purchase. If you've already played the games on the other systems, AND don't own a GameCube or PS2 with which to play Tony Hawk 3, then this might be a game to consider for you launch package. But if you answered no to any of the above, this is probably not worth your money, unless you're a die-hard Tony Hawk completist that must own every version ever made. Despite the new additions, this just can't compete with the gameplay in NeverSoft's latest effort, no matter how polished.
