This game is awesome! Cool music, excellent graphics, and plenty of tracks. The fun never dies!!!

This is a good game at first., April 6, 2002

This game is really fun at first but it got pretty boring pretty quick for me. There are plenty of tricks to do and plenty of places to ride. There ts also a park maker thing. Even that got boring very fast. I think this game is much better to rent than it is to buy unless you are a person who is really big on BMX stuff.

Poor Dave Mirra!, March 20, 2002

I've only played the demo, but this much I've ascertained:

The title of this game ought to have been: ""Jack-Ass The TV-Show: The Videogame!" or "Davie Mirra Picks A Fight With God And Loses ... Badly!"

Seriously. It's as if Dave Mirra used the Lord's name in vain a few too many times and was smitten with the most accursed day of his life. Dave, who ends up facing the camera half of the game, looks medicated. Put this game through it's paces for a few minutes and you'll quickly realize he's depressed-- Resigned to fall, tumble, topple and break every bone in his mannequin-like body.

Some of the laughter-inducing escapades include Dave's destruction of phone booths just by tapping them, his tendency to land every jump backwards (darn your eyes, Dave Mirra! Stop LOOKING at me!) but his absolute disability to land forwards. Then there's the traffic: Every bus in town hits poor Davie-boy and then sarcastically honks it's horn as it drags his body down the street. I once saw Dave manage to grind to the top of a rail only to lose momentum just before reaching the top, stop, fall off his bike and hit his head on a cement platform before hurtling twenty feet to what must have been his death. (Memories of 'Groundhog Day' come flooding back.. should've been 'Bill Murray's BMX Hell!' on third thought.) You haven't lived until you've seen Dave Mirra rocket up a flight of stairs at astronomical speeds! Hope that bike seat is padded!

The soundtrack's sampler songs (alliteration!) helped hammer home the "accursed" theme. Mostly bluesy jams by folks like Tribe Called Quest, where they say something about "...if I knew today would be like this I would have stayed in bed...", Brad Noel of Sublime sings from beyond the grave as if consoling Dave who has been damned to live in an eternal hell, Ozzy Osbourne yells, "Goodnight Cleveland!" in some horrible latter-day Sabbath reunion and the defunct Rage Against the Machine bark about "Islam [being] right!" Maybe Dave's just listened to enough of this horrible music and has become sado-masochistic...

Can you say BORING?, March 7, 2002

This game just doesen't cut it. I was expecting more of a Tony Hawk style play. Controls are slow and the game is not interesting at all.

this game was so fake i mean you could fly up 50 feet in the air land on the MIDDLE of the vert and do a wall tap. When you ramp up a vert it is so hard to land backwards or fowards you need to land just right. When you land backwards its hard to steer and it slows you down so when you go off another vert you crash because its so slow. The wierd thing is that u can do a flip and manual flip then manual.... THIS GAME [bites]

Its OK but not great, February 25, 2002

Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 is not as good as it should be. The music is good. Im a rock fan. But some cheap things are, oh say, the backflip to grind. No ones ever done it. There not insane, stupid or crazy enough. Also, there are plants in this video game that when you run over them, they crack like wood. Bottom line, stick to the THPS series.

Tony Hawk this is NOT..., February 17, 2002

THPS is so much fun, and it has infinate replay value, so this should too, right? Sadly, no. Only 2 tricks are customizeable, but that's not the problem. No one has ever heard of any of the guys, except maybe the "Slim Jim" mascot, but characters' names don't matter, either. So what is the problem? SPEED. Think about it, in THPS, you start out fast, you recover fast, and you never really slow down. In this, you go slow until you hit a hill, take 20 minutes to get up, and once you stop--you take your sweet time speeding up again. (Ever ride an actual single-speed bike? Hard to pedal, right? Espescially up hills. Same here, you pedal like crazy and go nowhere. [But you get there fast!]) Seriously, pre-order THPS3 and steer clear of this.

rent it and see if you like it, January 18, 2002

It's pretty cool, not as cool as tony hawk, the game's cool, but the controller configuration's hard.

The music's cool, and I like "moment of truth" (gangstars), but the best track's ozzie osbourn!!!!!!!!!!!!

ONE OF THE BEST XBOX GAMES, December 27, 2001

Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 is one of the greatest Xbox games out on the market.

I am a skateboarder and I loved all of the Tony Hawk games.I purchased a Xbox and I heard that both Dave Mirra and Tony Hawk were great games.I spent hours trying to figure out which one to buy.I considered buying Tony Hawk more than Dave Mirra because I am a skater and not a BMXer.

I ended up getting Dave Mirra thinking that it would be better than Tony Hawk. Was I right?YES INDEED.

Dave Mirra has the best graphics,14 pros to choose from,a wonderful park editor, and 8 almost endless levels. The levels are so big that just one seems like the whole Tony Hawk game. The sound is also very clear.I wasn't that fond of the songs(I HATE ROCK),but I made my own soundtrack with the Xbox song ripper(very good feature).

In conclusion,THIS GAME IS THE BOMB! I am a hardcore skater and sometimes when I play this I forget all about skating and my mind just fills with BMX.
GET THIS GAME!

Not as fun as it looks, December 10, 2001

My husband and I love the Tony Hawk game so I thought we would like this one too but I was wrong. The graphics are OK and the levels are expansive but that's about all you get with this game. Its nowhere near as fun as Tony Hawk.
