A very enjoyable but non-replayable game with a wonderful cultish-type hero. Fun but very quick missions from the folks that brought us the venerable Deus Ex. Imagine the 6 plus star ratings that will come out when DE 2 is out. But anyway, I bit the hook and bought the game and 5 days later have another 50 dollar novel to put on the shelf next to the rest and perhaps in the mood pull out good ole Halo. Sorry for being vague but the short of it is if you are an average to above average gamer you can knock this one out at a blockbuster 5 day rental. Is it worth having in a library, hey, I'll sell you mine.

Excellent Action Game, November 10, 2002

I am referring to the PC version in this review, where a mouse and keyboard are used for controlling the game.

I was floored by not only the great graphics, soundtrack and voice-acting in this game, but the execution by the developers in taking a great concept and making it incredibly immersive and enjoyable.

Two major improvements from the 1st edition of Hitman are the control scheme, and adding a limited number of in-game saves (7 per mission on normal difficulty). The controls I found to be very intuitive, easy to pick-up and it makes the game very accessible.

In addition to those things the load times are incredibly fast, and the cut scenes are excellent although the story itself could've been fleshed out some.

The highlight of the game comes in the number of ways you can approach most of the missions, disguising yourself, finding new ways to complete missions, and achieving the "Silent Assassin" rating, where you are given bonus weapons early in the game for earning it. This rating is earned by not firing more than one shot from your gun, not having "close encounters," and not killing anyone other than your intended target along the way, with some minor variances. This is done by making smart use of Chloroform and putting enemies and bystanders to sleep and dressing up in their clothes instead of killing them, if you choose. Many times you will have to drag their half naked bodies into seclusion so that others are not alarmed, without being spotted. Fortunately for 47 everyone wears his size!

The map is well done and let's you see where everyone in the vicinity is, where and how they patrol, which way they are facing, and where various waypoints are for you to pick up equipment, meet contacts etc..,

The suspense as you walk past suspicious guards, time hits, and sneak up on unsuspecting subjects is very satisfying and entertaining, I have not experienced that kind of suspense and sense of accomplishment in any other video game to date.

There are some minor problems not really worth mentioning as the game is very polished, and they do not affect the game much, if at all.

There are so many memorable moments in this game and it is one I will cherish and play over and over again for a long time, until I achieve the Silent Assassin rating on every level (only a few that I have not).

I highly recommend Hitman 2 to anyone who enjoys a good action game or movie. Definitely one of the best video games to come down the pike in years.

Hitman 2 Doesn't Miss the Target by Much, November 7, 2002

Having not played any earlier versions of this franchise, I did not know what to expect. What I got when I bought it was an excellent 1 player experience for those who like to shed a little blood in their gaming. Hitman 2 creates a realistic tension that is unfortunately rare in FPS or action games. When it is possible you will be detected, your heart beats furiously and you can feel it through your hand as the vibration feedback unit of the controller pulses in your hand. The best thing about this game is you can approach it any way you wish, but you just may not be successful. While not recommending an open-it-up and blast away approach, it can work on some levels. However, you will be penalized in your overall rating if you are not using enough stealth and cunning. Overall, this is one heck of a game that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys FPS adventures.

Gameplay: 8.5
You can change from 1st person to 3rd person at any time, and it will depend on your current circumstances which one is more advantageous. Excellent camera, excellent AI, sharp graphics, the controls are tight, and there are numerous and varied locales for your exploits. The storyline is weak, but who cares? The action is what matters. No multiplayer and sometimes confusing objectives status are only real drawbacks.

Replay: 9
There is a learning curve, but it is not too steep. While your mission always has the same general objective- to kill- the different locales around the world, the different weapons one can use, and the varying levels of difficulty in each circumstance will keep you coming back for more.

I thought this game was really [bad] at first. But after several hours of figuring out the controls the game really started to show its true colors. I think if your into story games and stealth this game is a definite buy.

Excelent Game., October 29, 2002

Fist I have to say I am over 40 and love strategy games. Although I have only played the first two hits, I can tell that this is going to be my favorite xbox game. The idea of walking into a mafioso's villa disguised as the mailman delivering flowers to make a hit and a get away with as little blood shed as possible is much more fun than emptying a clip into an alien. In fact, I played the first hit several times, using different strategies, I am doing the same with the second hit.

One weakness is that the AI gets weird at some points. For example, if I were a maid and saw dead bodies and heard gun shots, I would not run around in hysterically in circles. It is tempting to shot her, just to shut her up.

The story is interesting dealing with the moral conflicts of being a killer attempting to change, the music (surround sound) is excellent adding to the story. The graphics are good. The character is exactly what you would expect from suave cool claculating killer, kind of like Clint Eastwood characters.

If you like the fantasy of being a hired gun and taking aim for perfect head shots, this is a must have game.

The qualities of "Hitman 2", October 28, 2002
Reviewer: Antonio Mosso from Washington, DC United States
The good:
-Great arsenal of weapons
-Brutal ways to use those weapons

The bad:
-Sometimes inaccurate with plot and missions

The strange:
-Is there a single rocket launcher?
-Don't it feel like the pistols are a little smaller than his hands?

The awards for:
-Best gun: WS500 sniper rifle(I think that is what they called it)
-Best toy: The wire cable(Is there anything more fun than choking the hell outta those nutcases?. . . . . .Didn't think so)

The overall:
-Just to warn you, this is not a childs game. This is for a great sharpshooter. Master this and you can do anything

FPS fans, stop a moment. THis is a thinking man's FPS/ third person action/adventure. You can toggle viewpoints back and forth. This isn't Doom. The LAST thing you do is bomb through some room, blazing all over the place.

Gorgeous game on all production levels, excellent controls, great story, everything you want. But damn, it's hard. Be prepared to die a lot and repeat a lot.

The cool thing is that there is more than one way to get things done. The more stealthy and less mistakes you make, the more rewarded will you be.

All the problems with the first game have been fixed. Highly recommended for all systems and PC!!!

If you are looking for a game that resembles something like a spy thriller, this game is for you. Don't buy 007, this game has alot more to do with sneaking around. The graphics are good, gameplay is good. A few minor issues, but this game is worth having.

Hitman 2...., October 21, 2002

I purchased this game from EB and was immediately told by the sales person I would be dissipointed since he had been stuck on a particular part of the game for 4 days. I started to feel a bit queasy and after getting home I spent the next 3 hours feeling like a lost puppy. I went to sleep thinking I had wasted "$". But after giving it a rest a little bit and figuring out the controls more I have done a complete 180. The story is good, cutscenes Great and gameplay FANTASTIC!!! It just takes a little getting used too. But this game is a definate buy! You can switch between third person and first person view, many different weapons, and much more. But beware, this game is more about stealth than finishing a mission by killing everything in sight. The current mission I am on I cant be seen by anyone or else the mission is failed. But this game is worth at least a rent and if you like what you see then buy it, this game is the best x-box release in a while.
