Product Description: The groundbreaking adventure series returns with more action, excitement and jaw dropping effects than ever before in Turok: Evolution. The game is a prequel that takes us back to the origins of the Turok lineage. You play as the hero, Tal'Set, fighting his nemesis Captain Tobias Bruckner in 1886 Texas. During the battle, a rift between their world and the Lost Lands opens and Tal'Set is sucked into it. Injured and near death, he is nursed back to health by the natives of the River Village, a colony in hiding from the Lost Land's greatest threat: the Lord Tyrannus and his reptilian hordes. Tal'Set becomes a reluctant participant in the brutal war that is raging in the Lost Land. Bent on a "holy mission" to purify the land through slaughter and misery, Tyrannus appoints a new general to his armies, and Tal'Set discovers to his horror that it is Bruckner, who was also swept into the Lost Lands through the rift. Turok: Evolution is an epic adventure of treachery, exploration and war in a land of lush jungles, suspended cities, mysterious temples, reptile armies and towering dinosaurs.

Not a very good game, November 11, 2002

When i first rented this game, i thought i was going to get some raw, heart-pounding action. Instead i got some guys shooting a bow and arrow. I didn't play very far into the game but i don't think this will keep your interest very long. Another thing, it should be rated E not Mature.

Not Halo, November 7, 2002

Sadly we have seen what FPS on XBOX can be and this is sadly lacking in every way. The control is choppy, the levels are small, and the weapons are slow. Don't waste your time, put in Halo and wait for Halo 2.

Could of been a great game., November 3, 2002

I thought this game was going to be amazing like the first 2 Turoks. I was wrong. The game just doesn't feel like a turok game. It seems totally different to me. It is a good game but not what I was expecting. The graphics are good but nothing amazing like other Xbox games. I don't know about other copies but my game seems defective. On Chapter 4 at the end everybody seems to turn invincible and I cant kill them but they can kill me. On another level I will be running through the midle of the level and suddenly blow up. This game is good for someone who likes shooting games but it's a dissapointment for the Turok Fans.

A Load of Hot Garbage, October 18, 2002

I loved the commercials for this game and the hype was really high, but when you pop this stinker into your X-Box you will understand why it is important to actually PLAY a game at least once before you put down the dollars on it.

Turok Evolution is, in a word, horrible. I am sure that my own high expectations made it seem even worse, but the bottom line here is to save your money on a GOOD FPS. For most X-Box owners, Halo has us spoiled.

The breakdown is:
Graphics - 1 star. For a 2nd generation game on a next generation system the graphics are sub-par. They could have put this one on PSOne.

Sound - 3 stars. The sound is at least decent. Nothing to write home about.

Gameplay - 2 stars. Horrible. If you have ever played Halo, you will LOATHE the control and the way the game progresses. Enemies are dumb, saving is ridiculous(either finish the level or start at the beginning), and replay value is non-existant

Fun - 1 star After about 2hrs you will begin to ask yourself. What's the point. With its redundant gameplay and lackluster visuals, you may not even want to play the next day.

My advice: rent it, appraise it, and give thanks that you saved your money.

Waste of Money, October 15, 2002

This game was an absolute waste of money. The controls are terrible, aiming is a joke. Sometimes you move to fast, sometimes you move too slow. The worst thing about the game is the lack of checkpoints, you have to finish the entire level before proceeding...if you die (even when you are close to finishing the level) you have to restart the whole level. The graphics are good, but other than that, this game is worthless.

Great Graphics and gameplay, but it is confusing, and there are no specific objectives.

Bastard Child of the Turok Series, October 10, 2002

I owned Turok 1 and 2 for the old N64 and thought they were great, so I was really looking forward to this game. Unfortunately, this one isn't even as good as the old N64 ones. The graphics may be a little better, but the game itself isn't nearly as fun. Plus, the things that they added to "improve" the series are just plain stupid, like the flying missions (you have a pterydactyl that shoots missles and machine guns). I am going to trade this one in toward Timesplitters 2.

What a shame..., October 9, 2002

The only thing I can say about this game that is truly positive, is that it doesn't completely .... I think having to live up to the Turok name is very difficult. The first few levels are very enjoyable. But the game becomes a little ridiculous. The storyline is not very good. I guess I still think back to the sense of amazement I had with the first Turok game, and this game just doesn't come close. Some of the graphics are a letdown. Look elsewhere...

AFTER THE FIRST THREE CHAPTERS IT GETS REALLY DIFFICULT, October 8, 2002

EVERY THING THEY SAID ABOUT THE ENEMY AI IS TRUE, VERY TRUE. IN OTHER WORDS, THIS FIRST PERSON SHOOTER IS LIKE HALO. YOU CAN CHOOSE TO PLAY WITH STEALTH OR FORCE, ITS YOUR CHOICE BUT BE WARNED EITHER WAY YOU CHOOSE TO PLAY AND APPROACH THE ENEMY WILL GIVE YOU A TOUGH INTENSE FIGHT ON ANY SCALE. YOU ARE NOT GONNA JUST WALK THROUGH THIS GAME. YOU ARE NOT GONNA RUSH THROUGH IT EITHER. WHY? CAUSE IF YOU GO FAST THROUGH THIS GAME YOU EGO WILL GET HANDED TO YOU IN A BAD WAY. I KNOW. ALSO THEIR ARE SOME MISSIONS WHERE YOU MUST TAKE YOUR TIME AND NOTICE EVERY THING. IF AN OBSTACLE LOOKS TO OBVIOUS AND JUST HAPPENS TO "STAND OUT" YOU CAN BET THERE IS TROUBLE GETTING READY TO SNACK ON YOU. THIS GAME HAS A DESIGN THAT LETS YOU SET YOUR SELF UP FOR FAILURE AND IT WORKS GREAT. ONE MORE THING, IF YOU GET CORNED OR OVER WHELMED REMEMBER WHERE YOU CAME FROM AND KNOW YOUR SURROUNDINGS CAUSE IN A LOT OF THE MISSIONS YOU WILLL LEARN TO USE ENVIROMENTS. IF YOU THINK YOU ARE HOT STUFF AND YOU THINK YOUR ARE ALL THAT GO AHEAD AND PLAY TUROK:EVOLUTION LIKE A MAD MAN. SURE YOU CAN BLAST EVERYTHING TO BITS IN YOUR WAY AND SURE THERE ARE AWESOME WEAPONS BUT THERE IS A CATCH.....ALL YOUR ITCHY TRIGGER FINGER HAPPY GLORY DAYS WILL COST YOU CAUSE MINDLESS BLASTING IS NOT ALL WAYS THE BEST ANSWER TO DESTROY THE ENEMY. AND EXPLORING IS A BIG PART OF EVOULUTION TO. IT MAY NOT SEEM LIKE IT BUT THERE ARE SECRET HIDING PLACES TE BE FOUND. TAKE YOUR TIME AND ENJOY THIS GAME BECAUSE IN THE END YOU'LL FIND THAT THIS IS A COMBINATION OF THE BEST FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS OUT THERE. AKLAIM DID AN EXCELLENT JOB WITH THIS SHOOTER. HOW THEY PUT THE BEST ELEMENTS FROM THE BEST FIRST PERSON SGOOTERS IN ONE GAME IS GREAT. ALSO THE WEAPONS ARE WHY TUROK IS ONE OF EVERYONES FAVORITE. TUROK IS BACK AND I SAY AKLAIM IS GONNA GET BETTER WITH TUROK SERIES CAUSE NOW THEY HAVE THE HARD WARE THEY NEED TO PUSH THE TUROK SERIES OVER THE EDGE.
