I love Gauntlet , but..., September 6, 2002

I love Gauntlet, but I have some minor gripes. First, the graphics aren't that much better than the N64 version. I expected alittle more from the powerful and mighty XBOX. Second, some of the levels are taken from the N64 game. Keys, barrels, and runestones are in the same spot!!! ( Note: Of course there are far more levels and characters than N64, but re-hashing old levels. Pleeessse. Bottom line: If you're new to gautlet, give it a try. It's simple, fun and a good multiplayer.

If you're a Gauntlet veteran, enjoy the game- just don't expect to be blown away.

Would I buy it again? Yes.

Good, But Bad, August 29, 2002

To start out let me tell you there are a lot of levels and they are all fun. That is probably why it is not rated 2 or 1 stars, but it has bad stuff like terrible graphics and poor camera angles. Do yourself a favor and rent it first, before deciding. I think you will be happy that you did.

This time Midway went the [wrong] way, July 5, 2002

I am a total hardcore action/adventure/RPG fan, and thats what this falls into. I'll play almost any game, and mostly like it, but this game disappoints]. The graphics are really nasty, seriously, they are really cartoony. The voice acting is soo bad, and there are plenty of glitches in what he says. The storyline is...what is the storyline? You're not an important character at all. The gameplay is the only somewhat good part. It's just really [bad] that you throw your weapon around. You can go into hand to hand too. If you dont have 4 controllers this game is even more stupid. If you are an RPG gamer, or like action/adventure, this game is NOT what you think. If you liked all the gauntlet games, this is for you. But I think this game [DISAPPOINTS]...

Mindless, boring, and fun, July 2, 2002

When you're sitting around with not a thing to do and you don't want to do much more, pop this one in and you're well on your way to monotnous, mind numbing, boredom filled fun. You must be VERY thorough in order to beat this game, but the controls are solid, if not very simple. There are lots of codes to unlock characters not to mention in game ways to do it. ...

Midway was just lazy with this one., July 1, 2002

This is a fun game, let me start with that. There are over 60 levels and a huge array of characters to choose from and plenty of different enemies to fight. It is worth going through once.

This game has many serious flaws, however.

1. The camera angles. There are many times you can't even see the enemies that are shooting you because they are off camera, this is especially frustrating when you are moving down screen.

2. The game doesn't use a fraction of the Xbox's graphical, processing or sound capabilities. It seems to be nothing more than a re-port of the N64 version with some extra levels added. Any 128 bit system, including Dreamcast, is capable of much more than this.

3. Unless you are detective Columbo and manage to sniff out all secret items, like runestones and gold medallions, on your first run through then you end up repeating levels, which isn't much fun.

4. The game isn't very challenging. I didn't lose a single hit point against the final boss because my character had so much gold I just bought invulnerability for 5 minutes and he couldn't touch me. Besides that, your characters just become too powerful too quickly. I never even came close to dying, not even once.

Like I said before though, it is a fun game, it just could have been so much more. I would like to see the ambition of software developers match that of hardware developers.

At least the game is fun..., June 23, 2002

I have a few complaints about this game. First off, let me say that I had a lot of fun playing it with three of my friends. It's definitely a good party game. But here's where I was let down. I owned this game for the dreamcast, and as far as I can see it's just a port of the Dreamcast game, and a bad one at that. The graphics are not very good (definitely not 32-bit color), the sound effects are not very good, and there were even some errors in the game if you played it long enough (specifically I remember that certain textures would be drawn incorrectly, and there would be lighter colors around the enemies. I fixed it by rebooting the Xbox. Another example is how the announcer would proclaim that "Blue Warrior has stopped time" when he really meant "Blue Warrior picked up a stop time and it is in his inventory. You see what I'm saying.) For my friends that never played the first version, it was a great game because the idea was new. But for me I was just very disappointed in the poor port of a great game. If anyone is planning on buying this one, I'd recommend renting it first. If you really enjoy it, then you might want to buy it like my friends did, but otherwise I would wait 'till Midway actually spends the time to make a real version for the Xbox.

THIS IS A FUN GAME!, May 22, 2002

when i first got this game i thought it was going to be boring because i was just running around the tower looking for places to go ....but then i started actually fighting and the gameplay is addictive! It is even better with 2 or 3 players because you can use these cool special attack 2 player combos. THere are many different thingsd to fight like 3 types of gargoyles, zombies, worms, scorpions, rats, green things, and golems. The only bad thing about this game is that the graphics look like n64 but i don't care because the cut scenes are good and graphics have never been a huge thing with me because i jumped right from super nes to xbox. i gotta tell you this game is great! if you want a long, hard game that is fun for multiplayer GET THIS GAME!
