Amazon.com Product Description: You are the vampire Kain, the most evil figure ever to appear in a video game. Cloaked in stealth, you will move through crowds unseen, travel stories above the peasant herds on which you feed--leaping from rooftop to rooftop--and use mind control to overcome vampire-proof inventions. The combat choreography in Blood Omen 2 unfolds with dancelike precision as Kain engages armies of demons and humans alike. The comprehensive menu of unstoppable attacks, nimble combos, and special moves are designed to appeal to even the most jaded of fighting game fans. The world that Kain moves through is a lushly detailed gothic environment that is not only gorgeous to the eye, but also alive with the soon-to-be-dead. The AI behavioral response makes peasants and enemies variously flee, take up arms, or remain unaware as Kain moves through crowds or charges, sword raised, into open areas.
From the Manufacturer: 400 years have passed since the vampire Kain damned the world in the original Blood Omen, choosing to rule the world in damnation then die for its salvation. Now Kain, who once controlled the land of Nosgoth with his vampire armies, finds his brethren slain and his dark powers stripped by a mysterious figure. To reclaim his rule and exact his vengeance, Kain must dispatch armies of zealot soldiers and overcome legions of demons in order to uncover the ominous plot that threatens the land he seeks to conquer. Blood Omen 2, the latest installment in the Legacy of Kain Series, is a third person 3D action/adventure game in which the player assumes the role of the vampire Kain. A compelling story drives the player through huge lushly detailed 3D environments and challenges their game play skills in combat, puzzle solving, stealth and exploration. With each success, the player achieves new dark powers that will grant Kain the ability to access treacherous new areas to explore and the power to face stronger, more aggressive enemies. As the player develops a stronger, more skilled vampire, they are rewarded with dozens of dazzling in-game cinematic sequences that unfold the continuing epic of Nosgoth, and Kain's attempts to ultimately rule over it.
Good, perverse, fun., August 17, 2002

There is just something undeniably fun about slashing, hacking, and dismembering innocent (and not so innocent) villagers and then sucking their blood for sustenance. This game had it all, silent decapitations, attacking and slashing women out with their baby carriages, and finishing off wounded victims with a series of ruthless kicks! It is so politically incorrect, and so, so, fun.
One thing that elevates Blood Omen above some of the competition (like Hunter, The Reckoning) is that their is more to it than just fighting. Scattered throughout the game are various puzzles that must be solved to advance to the next level. Alternating the violence with strategy and puzzle solving is what makes this game good for hours of entertainment. I finally made it through the entire game, but it took me a week of long nights and consulting on-line strategy guides.
Two minor critisisms of this game:
1. It is a little bit too linear. The game usually forces you down one path only with little or no options. i.e. the only door that is open is the one you must go through.
2. It needs a little polishing graphically. Don't get me wrong, the scenery is fantastic, but slain victums fall into solid walls, and lie in impossible positions over the edges of cliffs, bridges, etc.
Is it worth buying? YES!. Is it perfect? no

Any game that places video sequences which CANNOT be bypassed AFTER save points is the work of either very egotistical designers or merely inconsiderate ones. To have to replay a video sequence over and over again in order to try to beat a level is absurd, and this mistake is repeated throughout what is otherwise a well-built, stylish game. Rent it or wait until the version that allows you to bypass video sequences is released. Otherwise you will wish that Kain would come and end your own existence...

This game is probably the best of the Legacy of Kain series, and to me, it is. It has a great story that you will want to play further to learn more about it. It has good graphics for the Xbox, but nothing really special. As you progress through the game beating bosses you get new powers from them after they are defeated. Speaking of bosses, this game has great boss battles. Each one makes you think about how you must defeat them, it is never by just hitting them over and over. It is not a scary game because you are the bad guy, and that's what makes it so cool. You dont run away from anyone, they run away from YOU. As I am sure you have probably heard this is not a good game for young kids or for the faint of heart. I'd say it is OK for a 13 year old, but thats bup to parents. The puzzles in the game are nothing special, but they are in there so you dont get bored with just going around killing people. I'd say this is a must own for the of age Xbox owner.

This game is the best! I bought this game right when it came out. I've been waiting for Blood Omen 2 to come out for months and now it's finally out. The graphics are sweet and the sound rules. If you like Soul Reaver than you will love Blood Omen 2 better. Blood Omen 2 has a great storyline. I recommend buying this game if you don't have it...
As Good as Halo, June 9, 2002

I have played Halo legendary mode for most levels including Truth and Reconciliation. Saying that, I absolutely love Blood Omen II. The backgrounds and environments are phenomenal, even if the some of characters aren't as remarkable(a little crude in some cases). Without spoiling it, the special abilities that you acquire are extremely cool. Some of the bosses are difficult and require a little research or you get frustrated. But, hey, the whole Flood portion of Halo is frustratingly mind numbing and I still like it. I think you'll agree, this game is a keeper.

I expected at least slightly better graphics, or maybe a little bonus of some other kind, but I got none. I bought my X-Box because of it's superior graphics, unfortunately some developers just are not taking advantage to the X-Box's superior graphics.
Boring, June 5, 2002

Having never played a horror game I was looking forward to this one. Unfortunatley, I was disappointed. The gameplay soon became very boring as the only type of action is to run around drinking the blood of unsuspecting townfolk. Interspersed along the way is the occassional bad guy, treasure chest (I have no clue as to what benefit it gives) and the requirement of having to find a switch at different points in order to open gates. I found the controls to be slow and clumsy and the graphics are so-so. I guess I just expected more from an x-box game.
macabre enjoyment..., June 3, 2002
what a simply brilliant game, all the controls are perfect, all the areas beatifully designed, all the voice actors excellent (a rarity), the only reason i give this game 4 instead of 5 stars is that it has almost no replayability... its the identical set of circumstances again.. i managed to replay it once, there are parts that you just Have to see again , for example, The Eternal Prison... my final word is, if your a fan of the series Buy This Game. If your not, or if your new to the series rent it.
it took me probably 40 hours to finish it with alot of playing around.
